Reefkeeper elite update problems

I just purchased a rke system and all the modules are up to date except the main head unit.

I am using sid v2. Myreef 2.0 says there is a update to 3.02 I think and when I go to program it finishes the first stage of the update and when it starts the second stage it says programming failed

And then myreef says the current version on the head unit is "of 3.02"

And when I plug everything up the head unit doesnt turn on or anything

If I reinstall the previous version and hook it up it works

What am I doing wrong

When did you download myReef? There was a new version uploaded to the DA website just a few days ago.

Try hooking a powered PC4 to the SID with the head unit and then try the update again. It will fuss about the other module but if you continue it will program the second part only. This happens when thr USB port being used does not have enough power to program that memory. I assume you do have the RKE V2. The original RKE will not work on the 3.02 update. The display will not be right.

Well hooked pc4 and head unit to sid 2.0 and it wont show the head unit in myreef 2.0 and it is rke v2

Did you click on updates in upper right had side of mYReef?

Make sure the PC4 is powered on and plugged in also.

Yes it is and the rke comes on. In my reef it shows sid and then pc4 but the pc4 is shaded and wont let me do anything

I did it brings up screen showing sid and the shaded pc4 which both are updated to the newest firmware

Which myReef build are you using click on about in the menu and about again to find out.

OK, that build should work. The RKE may not have got a good update on the firmware. You might want to try updating that again with just the head unit hooked to the SID. If you have another computer to try you may be able to update both thr firmware and the flash memory with it. Laptop computers are useually have the problem updating thr flash memory but no problem with the firmware. Let me know how it goes.

Yeah the flash is what doesnt update. And I am using a laptop

Another question. If you power up the complete system does myReef see the head unit then?

No it does not see the head unit

OK, hook up just the head unit to the SID. If it doesn't show then try a different buss cable. You also may want to try a different USB port to update. Some on laptops are lower power than others.

That is good. If you have a different computer you may want to try using it to update. If not try different USB ports and see if you can get it to update both. If it doesn't try with a PC4 powered again. If should come up like a system with just one PC4. When you click to update it will give you a warning that there is more than one module connected. On the right side there should be text explaining what happens if you update. The GC1 referred to in the text is the RKE head unit.
