Just wanted to post a couple of pics of an upgrade to my water change process.

Before I had the pump inside the garbage can with .5 inch tubing.
Now with the added bulkheads and plumbing I have reduced the water change time from 18 min to around 12 min.

Thanks

Maybe a dumb question, but why the upper line? Is that to keep the water cycling when the outer valve is closed?

Sorry for not explaining this. Basically yes.

The bottom bulkhead line is the intake and the top bulkhead line is the output. These two lines are used to mix saltwater inside the garbage can.
On the other side of the top bulkhead, I have a 45 degree elbow that is used to mix the water. Also I ran the output of the RODI across the ceiling to the garbage can.

So in order to change the water I close the top line and open the middle line. Part of what saves so much time is I use one pump to mix the water and change the water where as before I had one pump to mix and another pump for water changes.

Thanks
Randy

Something else to add. One of the great features is that a MAG 18 pump can be used as a heater. So I can now remove the heater from the garbage can. I really do not believe there is a better heater on the market.

Anybody that disagrees has never owned a MAG pump.

LOL this is very true. I use a similar setup but my mag12 resides in the bin and after coming through the bin with rigid pvc it switches to 3/4'' inch flexible tubing from lows which has a T off it for water changes or going back through a hole in the top for mixing.

I didn't think about doing it that way. LOL You are using the heater to its full potential.
