I picked up this guy yesterday at a coral farmers market in Atlanta; vendor said it's a crocea but I've done alot of research and think it may be a maxima. Either way it looks healthy and is settling in nicely; I have it on the sand bed with some rock rubble under it and plan to slowly move it up onto my rock work closer to the lights. I have a 4 bulb ATI T5 setup and know these guys need intense lights. Been wanting a clam for a while and have done alot of research; psyched to have one!

I have the same light setup, so I'm interested in seeing how well you do here. How long has your tank been up?

Very nice clam. Like the pattern. Not a crocea. Most likely a Maxima because of the scutes on the shell.

Well It attached itself to the piece of rock I buried in the sand so I moved it up to the top of my rock work where it would get the most intense light. It did not like that position as it repeatedly jumped ship. I have since moved it about half way up the rock work and it seems happy there.

Here it is in its new location, it's moved around a bit but seems happy here.

Nice stuff Reefkids! As long as I have success with this one I could certainly see more in my reef's future!

Just an update, I've had the clam for 8 weeks now and it seems to be doing great! It's settled on the rock work about 9 inches below my ATI 4 bulb T5s.

My Crocea has been in my system for 6 months now and seems to be thriving. It's been in the same spot about 10 inches below my 4 bulb T5 lighting.
