Can you make normal sump baffles to trap air bubbles but drill holes in the baffles to allow your heater to heat the whole sump without disrupting the water flow?

Just place heaters in an area of sump that has most flow.
It's all about the water moving across the surface of the heater

3 heaters? What size tank do you have?
150 with a 55 gallon sump... there's actually a 4th heater (300 watts each) in the drain to the sump... tank is in the basement level of a raised ranch... it's always pretty cool down there... also i would rather use several smaller heaters rather than one large heater as a failsafe (had that experience with one of my freshwater tanks several years ago)
