I'm a newb only been in reef tanks for about 9 months now. Have had my mushroom for 5 months and have never seen this before? 46 g bow front, 20 gal sump, coralife skimmer, fluval 406 canister, 2 aqueon 500 circulation pumps. Water parameters all good. Thanks in advance.

It desapeared under the mushroom about 10 minutes ago curious to see if it pops out tomorrow.

Its a feather duster or coco worm of some sort, good to see in most tanks, beneficial life form on rocks

It does not look like a duster to me. Never seen a translucent one before. Looks like some kind of tunicate or something. But it moves. Interesting. Post more pics if u get them plz. Cool stuff. If it is a duster I wanna see.

I've seen new feather duster tube growth look exactly like that, white and semi-translucent. As it gets older it darkens up.

The whole tube disapears(retreats) underneath the mushroom. Yet I noticed last night the mushroom still lays flat on that area? I will get some more pics asap.

If the whole tube disappears how can it be a duster? Wouldn't you think the outer tube would be stable? As it would not be part of the worm. Either way I'm siked to see. Ill follow along. Love this kinda stuff!

So went to my LFS great place by the way. He ordered me a orange and green lobophylia open brain Beatiful. I digress showed him the photo and he instantly said it was a "worm" in the rock that picture inside the tube with the 2 ports was the deal sealer for him as soon as he saw that he said yep that what it is. Said it's nothing to worry about and that's the only part of it I'll ever see. One side is the water intake and the other is the outlet so to speak.
