Ran across something cool, tried it, sharing....

We made the mistake around here of putting water in the tank before the stands were finished.

As cool as all the plumbing and automation is to me, it is not so cool to non reefers and distracts from the display.

My son and I built this in about an our today for his frag tank.

Basically this is a window screen using the screen kits at Lowes or Home Depot. In addition, magnets are glued onto the stand and onto the window screen itself.

This makes the stand more attractive, breathable, and easy to access for maintenance.

Ah, important note. You want to use the sun blocking screen, not the normal screen. The sunblocking is much darker. Lowes had that, not home depot in my local area FWIW...

There is probably no reason you couldn't use any material as well.

Did the frag tank too. Turned out decent. This allows for storage under the frag tank without it being a big eye sore...

Awesome idea! You would never have to worry about fresh air reaching your tank now :)

Nice touch to a frag tank. Mine is out of sight and out of mind, in the garage so it's not big deal. I have a feeling this will catch on for the budget reefer. Nice work.

Thanks, true. Quick easy and cheap.
