I've been thinking about making the switch from LEDs to t-5s . I've been doing a lot of research an asking around and do the coral that I have I'm thinking T-5s would be my best bet. Currently I'm running 2 ai Vegas over my 95g Surfline aquarium. I have all lps and softies ( chalices, acans, zoas, wellso, Duncan's hammers). Since I haven't asked on here if like to get your guys input. Should I make the switch? If so what's the best light to use? Will my coral benefit if I switch? Thanks for your time and input

Is there anything wrong with the corals health wise? Why are you wanting to make the switch?

I would supplement the leds with t5's. I have way better growth with my led and colors have a lot more pop, except for my acans. Once I added some t5 back into the mix they got the colors plus the amazing growth that the leds have.

I most of them lose their color. Or kinda start to dull out. I have a cb rainbow crush that was half red half blue with some green in it. Now it's all blue with a green eye? My rainbow acan has just about every color in it. It still does just not as bright after checkin everything else my lights are the next thing to look at

Exactly how do I set up to supplement with t-5s? Do I supplement with blue bulbs or white? Would I have to turn my LEDs down so it's not to much light?

My chalices look a lot better under the leds but I had to drop them a little lower compared to where I use to keep them although other corals in the same height seemed fine.

A lot of people will supplement with some sort of actinic, or actinic-purple or actinic-pink combo. I lowered intensity and dialed it up slowly until I was comfortable with what I had.

IMO you just have the intensity way too high, I wouldn't add more light to low light corals. The vega should have plenty of spectrum to support what you have. Just lower the intensity 5% every couple weeks until you see changes

DIY fixture, the bright orange/red acan picked up the green rim while in my tank

Well my whites are pretty low. Can my blues be to high and cause it?

I use to run all LEDs and some corals loved it and some corals didn't. Now I added 4 T5 and all corals are happy. Just gotta dial in my reactors now
