Please,....try to answer all questions.

The price difference, $40 between the two. (not too big of a deal if,....it's worth it)
About the same GPH.

I think,....so far, I like the Vertex, but not sold on it yet.

Which is a overall the best product ?

Best engineering ?

Best pump !,.. ?

Correctness of GPH ?

Best skimate ?

Loudness/vibrations ?

Easement of cleaning ?

Best customer service ?

Warranty ?

I can only speak for what I have.

I have the Vertex Omega 150 on my 120 (about 150 gallons TWV) and I absolutely love it. The thing is a beast, it is built like a rock. It is thick, well constructed and requires very little adjustment.

I have a had a few skimmers, ASM G2, Bubble Magus NAC-6, SCA-302, the Vertex is by far the best. Not even close.

Ditto on the above post, I have had the Vertex on my 150 sps tank for two years, I bought it when they first came out and I love . Super quiet and very efficient , solid work horse for 2 years with no problems.

I'm using a curve 7 and it's great on a 300 gallon system. Never used a vertex before though.

I know that both company's have the name factor, very good reviews and owners like you really like them.
I watched a video of BRS at Macna 2014, and the Vertex is built very,....well !

This may be the only time I kind of,....... afford it ! lol,......
This would be for either my 93g cube build or the up & coming 125g fish only tank. More than likely, the 93 reef.

I have a nice and nearly new, ASM G-3 that can go on the 125g.

Sound like a good plan ?

Important thing. BM doesn't normally have the air draw listed. That isn't a perfect stat, but it's the best for really seeing what a skimmer can handle since airflow is critical. The BM 5.5 draws 520 liter per hour.

BUBBLE-MAGUS.COM_productinfo

The vertex is adjustable between 650 and 900 liters per hour. The two skimmers are not really in he same class. The vertex is considerably more powerful.

Saying nothing of the vertexs great construction, titanium screws, threaded cap and such. The curve 9 would be the similar model for air draw but I would still go with the vertex over the 9.

You'll be happy to hear, I bought the Vertex, and I'm very excited !

I watched several more video's and checked out owners written reviews and it was almost a no brainer.
I also bought a few other products on BRS's sale, so it will be wonderful to get and use them.

Is there any tweak's/dial in, or need to do's for setting it up or mods ?

Rinse with vinegar before using ?

Good choice the vertex is better build then my Sro-2000 and bubble Magnus 5. It's more solid build then the reef octopus.

I didn't have to do anything to get the 180i running well. Bought two weeks ago, I followed directions and ran it with the cup off overflowing for 24hr, put the cup on and adjusted the level and have not touched it since aside from emptying the cup a few times.

Yah I hear you, but pretty fun buying new gadgets for the hobby. Now with the upcoming new tank build plus this shiny new skimmer and a few Apex add-ons (leak detection module with probe and another EB-8 and web cam) will have to build a new Sump as well..... will be practically a whole new system when all said and done. It's good be re-energized occasionally in this hobby of ours, plus I'll be helping the FedEx and UPS drivers get in shape before the BIG X-mas push.

Cheers, Todd

Yep, toys are great !
Too bad their so expensive . lol

I can't afford the apex system when it's all said and done, so I just bought a very nice used, Reef Angel basic, not the plus.
Has everything you can get for it. $150 shipped.

Hope I can finger,...it all out ?

I have been looking at the vertex 180i. I have a 65 gal reef and a 30 gal sump. Would this be to big? Its hard to pass this deal up and I have been looking for a good skimmer.

Thanks

IMHO would think it to be great Skimmer and value to your tank. I'm actually downgrading the Skimmer a bit for my system as I have a large refugium and my LPS, Z & P's and even some SPS could use a little more nutrients than my current Skimmer and Ozone leave behind.

Cheers, Todd

I just put a 150 on a 60g I set up. Sold off a new seaside 5.5. The 5.5 has a bigger pump and larger volume then a curve 5. This should be a no brainer. Not that there is anything wrong with the Bubble Magus/Seaside lines, but they are in different leagues.

No experience with Vertex but I've got the Curve 5. Works extremely well in my system and has a small footprint.

Boom: 180i running on a 65 right now!

Just remember it will run out of things to skim from time to time, so don't be upset if the foam isn't always running in the cup. It's. Good thing. 1300 l/hr in 65g is a lot!
