Umm I just researched this skimmer... For a 30 gallon it will too the majority of your skimming but I would look at the hob prizm skimmer I have it and it works great on my 29 people say its loud but my led lights are louder! Just keep in mind it is an hob so make sure you have like 4 inches in the back here are pics of mine

Speaking from experience....the Slim Skim Nano was the worst skimmer I ever wasted money on. You will regret it if you purchase it.
Surface skimming it totally dependent on very consistent water level in the DT. It is a weak skimmer, produces very little nog. Big, bulky looking in the DT. My HOB fuge was not tall enough. This skimmer needs 11"
It sits in my closet, I wouldn't even give it away.
Look at the Reef Octopus line of HOB skimmers. I ran the BH-1000 on my 26g for 2yrs. Great skimmer!
