    Pump/flow question,for my new setup

Trying to figure out what return pump to use in my 120g
I was thinking about using one of my 2 eheim 1262=900gph but since i might just go with sea swirl(with penductors on it) and no powerheads in the tank i dont think it will be enough flow, what u guys think might work best??pump needs to be insump

    Setup info
120g peninsula style 3 side view
    BB bottom
    Mixed reef tank mostly lps
    Reef keeper lite plus
    Swc 230
    40g breeder sump
    2x 300w heaters
    3 led's fixtures
    Phosban reactor(not hooked up yet)
    Uv(not hooked up yet)
    TIA
    Going from this 180g

    To this 120g
This is where the tank will be setup

Honestly I just setup a 120 with a dart closed loop along with a mag 12 return pump (which also feeds my skimmer) and I couldn't be happier! I would highly recommend it as long as your glass isn't tempered! Mind was and I had to replace one of the panels with non tempered just so I could drill the 7 holes needed for closed loop and overflow drain.

I dont know about drilling this tank right now,i drilled smaller tanks before i just wasn't planning a closed loop on this tank but ill look into other options
How does a closed loop works?

    Thanks

for my tank. I have a 2" bulkhead that's in the back center. It goes down to the input of the dart. then it plumbs up into a manifold which feeds back into the tank through 4x 1" bulkheads. There's a build thread on here for my tank. Look through here and see if you can get any ideas.

i would say a mag 12 in sump return would be fine. your eheim with 4 feet of plumbing would probally give you 600-700gph at the return nozzle

Just one more thing ,all the space i have available for that tank is there nothing else so a closed loop might need more room ,
I was thinking about just seaswirl for return and wavemaking

I don't think you would want a closed loop system on a tank set up in the open like yours is. Do you have just a single drain in the tank? How big? You're really going to be limited with the amount of flow you can get with just the return feeding a seaswirl. I'd say look for a pump that can push 1000gph at whatever head you'll be at and you'll have more than enough for what your drain can handle.

A Rio Hyper-Flow 17 puts out 1090gph,840gph @ 4', 55watts, has a max head of 10' and is only ~$75.00. I have one in my 120g system right now and its great. Its quiet, reliable, and runs cool. I'm not affiliated, I just realize I sound like a salesman, just a very satisfied customer. I think you would need a bigger model, the HF26 puts out 1350gph @ 4'. That would run two sea swirls w/ penductors. Or the biggest, HF32 puts out 1500gph @m 4' and costs only ~$140.00. JMHO
