also, none of them look "blah" under just t5.

| At Benny's request, I'll post some shots of my tank and growth under ONLY LEDs. I'm the same Soundwave from ReefCentral and some of you may have read my giant thread. Enjoy...
FTS - The sand is a little dirty and my tang is PURPLE for some reason but the point is to show you an up to date shot. This is today.
Shot of the side.
Not that long ago.
Quite a while ago.
A little further back in time.
Check out the growth on this guy, at the bottom of the tank...
This is with 24 CREE XR-E royal blues and 30 XR-E Cool Whites. |

| that looks sweet soundwave....i didnt know you were over here....big props on the evolution you have created....glad your here i got some questions..that thread over there is so congested i cant even think straight after i read a couple pages...and i can't talk to you directly...anywho i was there when you first posted that and talked to ya, are you using any optics on your tank?? i talked to evil and we came to the conclusion that i would need to get 6x24 led's to light my tank properly with different optics on each side since my tank is 2 different depths...i really wanna do it just trying to justify the 2gs in leds upfront.. it's rough knowing my current light's work and they work very well...lol

| That's exactly what soundwave has... He used 30 white and 24 royal blue LEDs.. That would require 9 buck pucks either 700ma or 1000ma which I would suggest... Each buck puck can run 6 LEDs without issues... Power supply can be found online for a decent price... If you go to ledsupply it has his fixture on there with a link to the complete build... We actually need a little more info on what you want to do with it??? If you want it controllable with diming options etc. Then your gonna need a controller also..

| Thanks Troy, I saw that thread and gave up when I saw it was nearing it's 3rd split and I was still wondering exactly what the current thinking is for requirements . I'm just trying to figure out the cost at this point and a summary would help.
I'll start a DIY thread and put the link back here so I don't clog up your OG question.
I'm looking to do a controllable/programmed dimmable unit mounted in a canopy that I can grow SPS in for a standard 120 footprint tank.
edit: I saw the first post, and was curious if there was anything that Soundwave would do differently.

| no problem man.. keep this thread alive it all pertains to led's so its good.... thats what i would like to ask soundwave..would he do it differently if he had the chance??? on that long thread you only need the first 3 posts by soundwave to get everything you need for your tank besides the controller...for a basic setup like he uses it would run you around 700$ that is a non dimmable or contolable set up...if you want a controller check out the audrino it seems to be the hot ticket...not sure the price...also the buckpucks would have to be the dimmable version which is slightly more...hth...

| Wow, Arduino rocks. What ever you do, do not Google "Arduino aquarium". Way too many options. Time for a DIY thunderstorm with sound and ligths. |

| swampy, I need to figure that out, have not been able to find a good way to make a circuit smart enough to replicate lightning on it's own. they all use the sound of thunder to do it...

| Thanks for all the positive feedback. It's kind of funny. In the reefing community/lighting world, I'm getting famous. Yet, you would never know me by seeing me on the street. Weird. |
