| Mine is set up in the basement, dumps into a 200 gal poly tank. I don't have it set up for auto fill, but it fills so slow that I have never ran it over. |

| I like Gary's setup and will be doing that when I get moved and setup the big tank.
My RO unit with shutoff valve and float valve should be here in a few days.
Hopefully, you can be plied with food to come help setup the topoff system when I am ready.

This is how I have mine set up. I've been wanting to hook up another pump and pipe it upstairs, just haven't got around to it yet. For right now I just bucket it up. |

| Thanks dantimdad, but it's just a float valve right now... I'm still running the bucket brigade to make it work. The thing is, I could run a pump and save my arms but it's the only exercise I get

| +1 on the Brute trashcan. I "T"ed off of my hot water heater input line. Good sorce of high pressure water, and system is in the garage, so if it ever fails, it runs down the driveway, instead of flooding the house. Put the trashcan elevated up in a 2 x 4 stand, so I can put a 5 gallon jug under the spigot. |

| I use a Rubbermaid 23 gallon rectangular ercycling can. It is narrow and tall so fits just about anywhere, the only problem was I had to make a collar to fit under the rim so it would keep its shape. Wood, steel square tubing or angle iron works well for this.
I am not a fan of float valves as thye have a narrow operating range and contribute to TDS creep unless you shut the system off after making a batch of water andallow the level to drop significantly so you get a good long run time. Frequent starts and stops are hard on DI resin.
I use float switches and a solenoid valve to control level as they are set
so the level has to drop 11 gallons before cycling on again, mimimal creep that way.
I would be careful hooking in to the hot water heater feed, you can get a small amount of thermal rise in the line feeding back into the cold water side. Anything over 113 degrees can melt an RO membrane in an instant. I feed mine from the cold water supply to the washing machine using a wye type garden hose fitting. |
