First off, I have never tried to breed anything (except people LOL). My clowns are allmost 4 years old and have been breeding for about a year. They reside in a Rose bubble tip anemone. I haven't attempted to breed them until now. I knew they would be laying today so I placed a tile in the tank where they normally lay yesterday. Well we have eggs tonight right next to the tile. What are ya gonna do, maybe they'll cooperate next time. I dont get my rots until Thursday anyways so maybe Ill wait till the next batch and get my Rots going.

If anybody has any tips for a breeding noob please do share, I can use any help I can get.

Here a few pics of former eggs clutches and of my clowns and setup. Thanks for looking and for any tips.

Congrats! Definately use your resources here, Clowns101 definately knows his stuff! You can also check out MOFIB marinebreeder.org, that is a forum that only deals with the breeding aspect of marine fishes & invertibrates. There are a ton of threads for clownfish. Good luck!

Thanks for the link Jason.

I got my Rots goin but now the eggs are gone. Go figure huh? This has never happened until now too. Oh well, I dont think I had enough time to be ready for them any ways. There will be more and maybe next time they'll be on the tile.

I gotta admit, I had no idea if my rots were doing well or dead but now I can see them so I guess their doing OK. So the cultures are up but I dont expect any eggs till about Sunday. Hopefully things go a little better this time around. Ive been trying to feed a little extra, Ill let you know.

No eggs yet. Its like they know I want them. They never missed a beat until I had Rots going. Could the tile be bothering them, maybe they just need to get used to it.

Sorry I kinda let this thread go. I placed the tile in my display and my clowns ate their current batch and never layed again. Yesterday they finally got back into the swing of things and layed a pretty nice batch. Ive let my rots go lately and Ive decided to wait it out until the first of the year. Its just too much work with the holidays and all but hopefully I can get this going again soon.

The rots can be started up easily. Just add air line and some phyto and you should be good to go. I've had a few crashes in the past but my current culture has been going for almost 2 yrs now

She's laying huge batches right now, I just keep telling myself next batch, next batch. Soon I promise.
