COMMON NAME - African Flameback Angel fish, African Pygmy Angelfish
SIZE - 3.1" (8 cm)
MIN. AQUARIUM SIZE - 30 US Gal. (114 L)
FOODS AND FEEDING - Varied diet. Frozen preparations that contain marine algae,
Spirulina algae, Mysid shrimp finely shaved shrimp. Feed at least 3
times a day if not in an established aquarium with healthy
micro algae growth.
REEF COMPATIBILITY - May nip at large polyped stony corals, soft corals and Zoanthids, oral disc of Anemones, will eat decorative algae.
CAPTIVE CARE - May be aggressive once settled in, does best in a tank with filamentous algae for browsing. An interesting pygmy Angelfish that will spawn in the home aquarium.
Once settled in can become a tyrant to more docile fish and even kill
other pygmy Angelfishes in smaller tanks. A male and female or two or
more females can be kept together in larger tanks (50 gal min. (189L) if
introduced at the same time. Males will sometimes fight to the death.
Only one male per tank should be kept.
