Longfin Bannerfish / Heniochus acuminatus

SCIENTIFIC NAME – Heniochus acuminatus

COMMON NAME - Longfin Bannerfish

SIZE – 9.8" (25 cm)

MIN. AQUARIUM SIZE – 75 US Gal. (284 L)

FOODS AND FEEDING– The Longfin Bannerfish consumes finely chopped meaty foods, vitamin enriched live brine shrimp, clam, crustacean flesh, mysid shrimp, and frozen preparations for herbivores. Should be fed a minimum of 3 times per day.

REEF COMPATIBILITY – This species will nip at some sessile invertebrates and stony coral polyps.

CAPTIVE CARE – The Longfin Bannerfish can be kept in shallow or deep tanks if fed frequently. This species takes longer to acclimate (recommend a minimum of 4 weeks, or until feeding aggressively) and will not acclimate if harassed by tank mates or if there is too much activity in or around the tank by the aquarist. It prefers to be housed with small, peaceful tank mates and requires plenty of hiding places. It can be kept in pairs if both specimens are introduced at the same time.
