I love my black tang. I got him when he was only 1.5 inches, now he is double in size. He will be the last fish added to my 75 gallon tank soon.

I love the combination of zebrasoma & ctenochaetus to keep the algae in check. For me, that's yellow, purple tang, and chevron!

I don't think is such a thing as a bad tang. They are all awesome in their own way. They are my favorite fish

I love my Kole Tang, peaceful and always hungry. Wish it liked to eat green hair algae though.

My favorite was a powder blue til I put one in and it had brooklynella (not sure on spelling) and killed every fish in my tank! I would vote for....wait for it...wait for it....a scopas, because it's THE ONLY ONE I've been able to keep!:( not a popular choice I know but for some reason tangs don't like me or my tank:(

What's so bad about the powder blue? Everyone I see posts about it getting ich or disease and killing other fish. No one QT and treat? I've had loads of fish with ich and velvet but they don't hit my tank without qt and treatment. What makes the powder blue so different?

I do not understand the question. Are we asking our favorite tang or best tang for a tank of a specific size? I think the best tang for my 10gal nano is a sohol.

Could someone explain to me the basis of their choice of best tang for a reef? Because from what I am seeing people are basing their choice on their favorite tang.

What? No Chevron?

Happy to say that I have a MAC certified clown tang from Quality Marine. Its been almost four weeks and he is looking alright, no visible damage from the other fish, and is now starting to even show an interest in eating pellets. So I voted clown because he is my favorite right now. Hopefully all continues to go well with him.

Kole Tang #1! Why?

1. Doesn't need a huge tank, mine is very happy in the 93g 30x30 Cube tank.
2. Doesn't show any agression to any other fish in my tank (no other tangs)
3. Very active and a graceful swimmer that doesn't bother any of the corals but loves to eat algae (not green hair algae though)
4. Loves to make my cleaning the glass time very difficult as he swims around the scraper and eats the algae that falls off
5. Eats everything~ Pellets, flake, Loves Nori

Convict Tangs only have a grand total of 3?! I have a convict tang trio and I love them! They're hard workers when it comes to eating algae, they don't take up a lot of room, and they're peaceful!
