Looking for anyone who has experienced this and overcome. Lately I cannot keep snails alive. Especially astria's. Here is my tank

36 bow
30lb live
Began nov 2013
Two ocellaris clowns
1 royal gramma
1 trumpet
1 xenia
1 bta
1 zoa
1 procillipora

Light- 55 led (white and blues and moons)
Amonnia 0
Nitrate 5
Nitrite 0
Ph 8.2
Phosphate 0

My snails will live for about two weeks. Then get visibly sick- notice they drupe off the glass, shells hang down. Then I find them tipped over

Have some nassarius snails that live. And two out of these Mexicans still alive. But I would say 10 out of 15 astria's have died.

Running a hob reef octopus m1000 and an mp10 wave maker.

Have had some cyano cycles and a bit of brown algae but only on my sand.

Sorry about the book, but reall want to get more snails. Tired of cleaning my glass

Just read an old post. Could my "cyano" be dinoflagellates and could that be harmful to snails? I do see bubbles coming off my sand especially at night and morning

Snails require the proper calcium and alk levels in order to grow, and survive.

Pretty sure I'm dealing with Dino's. Lfs (good one with real high quality corals - Salty Critter, vermillion ohio) suggested doing a 20 g water change (tank is only 38g), then another 20 g change the next day to get rid of them. This seems like it would mess with my water Chemisty and cycle immensely. Anyone else have thoughts on this method?

I would hold off as long as you can on a WC. Also do a 3 day blackout if its is really bad. They will eventually go away.

temp can be an issue with snails as well... I've read in a few places snails do not like higher temps...
I keep my tank between 74-76 and cooler if possible. i had 6 Giant Turbo snails, size of golf balls...
I was on vacation last week and temp went up to 79 and 2 died.
