This coral is one of my favorites, and you usually don't hear much about it in the reef community. The elegance of this coral in my mind sets it apart and demands some respect. I would love to see pictures of your Bubble coral and find out what makes your coral thrive. Feel free to post until you pass out lol!

QUICK TIPS

Placement: Bottom to Middle

Care Level: Easy

Lighting: Moderate

Waterflow: Low

I just recently lost my pearl bubble after having it for over 6 years. They can expand to a unreal size. Mine was about the size of a football when expanded. Its actual skeleton was about 5" diameter. They are hardy and also aggressive. They look like they are a Euphyllia but are not and can send out sweeper tentacles day and night. Not quite as long as a galaxia but just as deadly.

I had this one for awhile. I picked it up locally. It's a branching bubble like a hammer or frogspawn. The left heads were purple. One head on the right died so I attached a green branching piece. I attached it to a rock and had kedds reds growing under the purple and tubbs blues growing under the green heads. It was a pretty piece but I wanted to go with other pieces like wellsos and scolies.

Was one my favorite corals till it outgrew my 16 gallon. Traded it in for store credit. Will definitely get another when I get a bigger tank. Was cool to watch it deploy it's sweepers at night.

I've had mine for around 12 months, it looked pretty small in the shop when expanded maybe 4 inches or so, then I took it home lol, this thing is now enormous and without a doubt the most aggressive coral I've ever owned.

This is my 19 yo pearl bubble. It takes up the entire center of my 120 gal. Truly one of the hardiest corals I've ever had! Been through 2 wk power outages twice, during which I circulated a 65 gal with 3 battery powered air stones and water changes every 3rd day. The bubble to the left, in the tank picture and other zoanthids are about 18 y.o. The living tissue of this pearl is quite amazing, extending near the surface at times. The skeleton left behind throughout the years starts around 3 inches from the sand and has many deep crevasses which have had multiple clownfish spawns and these Midas blennies which are still going at it for over a year! I was gonna frag it, to make room for other corals, but when the Midas started spawning I decided to leave it alone. I have on occasion taken an isolated frag off.

We are proud of this one. Love watching it change shape.

Easy care. Bottom of tank. Takes up whole corner of 210.

I love the bubble coral. Have them high on the back of my tank making a sort of wall.
It gives the tank movement and they appreciate lower water movement.
Here's a pic of my pieces... Sorry for the crappy cel pic

that is super cool looking reefcowboy!

Lol thank you!
One thing I forgot to mention is the piece that I've had the longest came to my tank in the usual lighter neon green color. Even though I had on the top of the tank, i never ramped up intensity of the lights, keeping the tank overall at a medium par(I was scared of bleaching my corals when I switched from t5s to leds).
I noticed the color of the piece turned into a much brighter neon green, and I believe that is bc the stores usually bomb these corals with sudden excessive light. The newer pieces are noticeably also changing to brighter greens, from the top towards the bottom bubbles. Of course there are different types of these corals( Australia, etc). But I also think some pieces out there are indeed brighter in nature but due to improper light conditions do not develop their full potential!

I also noticed that bubbles can have a neon green. Some with an almost hologram type quality kinda like star sapphire. The pearl bubble has more of a flatter green blue color not as neon looking. Lack the hologram sheen, But balloons have an irregular effect like clouds.
