So I've had this for about 3 weeks fresh cut from the lfs. It's been kinda brown. What you guys think more light needed or just needs more time?

I would give it more time if your tank is under optimal conditions.

If you're having any algae issues your nutrients may be high causing the browning.

There are other factors that can cause browning like lighting and pests. If it's a fresh cut from a wild/maricultured SPS it can take time to adapt to tank life.

No pests. My tank runs real stable and no algae issues. Tanks not real mature but is getting there.

Wild echs are some of the most finicky sps there are i'd let it be as much as possible and try not to even touch to if you don't have to. I wouldn't worry so much about color at this point because its extremely unstable as it is. if you see any encrusting in the next month or so and decent PE throughout hat will be a very good sign though. Color will come once its fully acclimated and growing:)

If you can keep it alive it will get pretty. That is a pretty much certain. There is kind of an arbitrary hump with these things. No real specific time frame but once they are over it they tend to do well. I think its mostly just a slow coal to really acclimate fully to captive conditions. Hopefully you'll start to see some encrusting around the base soon. Another trick with echs is to nip the top off to encourage some rapid new growth from that area. Ive had decent luck with that as well.
