It can certainly take a toll on SPS corals.. It will also affect other levels such as KH which will in turn may affect other soft corals.

I have had mine as low as the mid 300 range but the more important parameter is alkalinity. 8-9 dkh is a good range and the key is to keep it stable and avoid any large swings.

Perhaps you can explain how low calcium will affect other levels... To my knowledge it does not. There is evidence that calcium levels below 360 ppm may impede coral growth, anything above that there don't seem to be any deleterious effects.
