I think that trying to get PETA involved and Class Action Lawsuit is not going to work because the case can get easily dismissed if someone on the case does something to get their case thrown out then the entire case gets dismissed from what I've heard. Try a subpeona and if Kent doesn't represent then they are in contempt of court and in a MUCH worse situation then they originally were.

I think they should have to replace all the loss from their mistake.

Class action would be great in a perfect world, but when you go against a company with claims that are really hard to prove on your own without a team of scientists it will be hard. If enough people jump on board it may get to a small settlement but with all the possible things that can go wrong in the hobby it is hard to prove what killed the corals. Did you save your receipt from when you purchased the kent carbon? Also if possible, you may want to get a sample of the water tested for the heavy metals and see if you can get some scientific proof they leached into your tank... They admitted there was an issue with the carbon, but tried to cover their butts. They'll cover them better if a lawsuit is filed...

Sorry for the loss and let me know if I can help with some frags to help you rebuild. I don't have much for expensive corals though... I lost those due to my own mistake

A copper test might tell you. Sounds like massive water changes in order. Wonder if they are going to reimberse people for their lost corals?

That is very lousy how they said it was someone's fault all while knowing their product was poisonous to a reef tank. A lawsuit may or may not work, but I do know what would work. I know that I am not going to buy any of their products due to their stance on this situation. They basically said "we know there is copper, we know it will kill clams and SPS, but just wait 2-3 weeks." I don't think so.

Yeah a hobbiest boycott can be effective if it is communicated well enough. That can sometimes get the company to step up and offer reimbursement or at least a massive public apology.

Valuation will be hard though as a dead coral looks like any dead coral. I don't think you can tell that it was an ultra colored limited edition or a random wild caught brown colony when it's just the skeleton.

cd, that is very true. However, the big test will be to see if Kent actually steps up.
