Not much going on anymore as there is not much left to do besides wait for the tank.

Ran the airline tubing for the dosing pumps last night. Don't worry, the calcium and alkalinity will be at totally seperate times so they are just fine right next to each other on the outputs.

Just placed my order for the rock. I would love to be here when the UPS guy shows up with my boxes of rocks. It's all dry rock from Billys Reef Connection which I hear good things about. I ordered 400 pounds which may not be enough but I will see how it pans out on the floor or something in a taped up outline of the tank. I don't really want a lot of rock, but not look silly either with not enough.

All doing good this morning. First thing I did was check for ammonia and nitrite and nothing.

Vlamingii!

Cool, looks like everyone is happy. Good to know they are doing the sale on the 29th. We might have to pick up 40 breeder or two for our qt also.

I got the boxes open this morning, minus one missing box being delivered today. It is some very clean stuff with little to no breakage in shipping. I have the outline of the tank on the floor so I can get a rough idea how I can put it all together, and decide if I need another 100 pounds or not.

I see the 32oz of black acrylic paint as well on the stand which will be used to paint the back of the tank right away.

Your fish are doing great, what is your quarantine setup and protocol? We are planning on picking up a few semi expensive fish and don't want to kill them in QT, LOL. We have never used QT before so def interested in your methods.

BTW looks like you have a nice pile of rock there!

I have never quarantined before either and never had a problem. Just decided I would this time around. The only treatment I have used is PraziPro or however it is spelled. I have yet to see any spots or marks of any kind show up on the fish so I won't bother treating with things like copper if its not needed.

They are set up with simple hang on the back powerfilters, and 2 heaters each, one of which failed already (but I had it for many years, the black stealth one). Breaker started to pop so I narrowed it down to which piece it was. I have a maxijet 600 in the tank with the tangs as they like flow. And some random PVC fittings and left over pipe is in there for hiding places. They don't use them until its sleep time at night, except for the starry blenny, hes in a pipe 24x7.

I did lose the Cristmas Wrasse yesterday however his fins were beaten up so I duno if they got into a brawl in the small 20 gallons of space. Maybe the other wrasse was not a fan I dont know.

Here is what I put together last night on the floor with the rocks. The rock goes a long way, and I did not even use it all. The tank is only 2 feet tall so I did not need to go very high. The highest point is about 18 inches with the rocks.

We never had a problem just tossing them in either. We figured this is a new start and want it done right, no more gambling

Cool, sounds nice and simple just the way I like to keep stuff. Do you have a light on the QT or just go with daylight? Sorry to hear about the wrasse, I read about a few people saying some wrasse are hard to QT as I have been searching for QT info. I have also seen wrasse's brawl before and they are lightning fast.

Nice looking rock structures. How are you going to secure them together? I agree on the post editing. It would be handy, its always nice to be able to go back and add a photo or take one down for a better one or even update the first post of the thread later on down the road.

Only filled them halfway as I will be using the existing water from the 20s to fill the rest of the way. I need new heaters to put in these and get them up to temp and salanity, and then I can began the transfer.

The quiet one pump in the bucket is a perfect match to pump the water into the tank at nearly the same exact speed as the water is dumping into the bucket.

gallery_1_3_128478.jpg

55-75 powerfilter on the top

gallery_1_3_142958.jpg

Aquaclear 110 on the bottom which I have had for many years. The filters on the 20s were brand new but I can just keep those for backup.

Sorry if you have already mentioned this before. How thick is the tank material and what kind of powerhead are you planning to use?
