Welcome to our build thread!

It is finally official! iReef86 has jumped in the deep end! We got a super sweet steal of a deal on a new 250g Deep Dimension! It will hopefully be here next week! The plan is to post and document regularly, so stay tuned, subscribe for details! A Current System Profile will remain on this page and be updated as things change.

This system is designed to have a truly open aqua-scape. The idea is to have plenty of swimming room for a few fish, predominantly a few tangs, and to have plenty of space to grow out our favorite SPS. We will have a few clams (5-7) and maybe a couple open brains.

Current System Profile (updated 8/10/2015)
Display: Marineland 250g Deep Dimension (5'x3'x31") w/ Dual Corner Overflows
Material: Starphire Glass
Cabinetry: Custom Cabinetry, doors from RawDoors.Net, All painted Bistro White
Sump: 75g Standard, Baffled: Drain, Filter Socks, Skimmer, Cryptic Fuge (or Frag Tank), Return.
Protein Skimmer: Super Reef Octopus SRO-2000-INT
Salt: Brightwell Aquatics Neo-Marine
Carbon/Phosphate Filtration: BRS Carbon Reactor and Reef Octopus BR-140 Bio-Pellet Reactor
Return Pump: Water Blaster HY-5000
Water Circulation: 3xTunze 6105 controlled by Tunze Multicontroller 7096
Lighting: ATI Sunpower 8x80w
Ca/Alk/MgDosing: Bubble Magus BM-T01 3 Channel Doser
Auto top-off: Tunze Osmolator

Current FTS:

The overwhelming excitement of this tank has caused me to load up a Teaser Pic! :D

What is the plan for the tank????? curious minds want to know!

Well to start off we'll be building a custom stand and canopy, then I plan to add water, rock, sand, fish, and predominantly SPS Corals and Clams! That's the quick-notes version!

I'll actually be upgrading all of my reef toys for this tank after we get settled and start filling it up. This will be a slow but steady process! Skimmer, Lighting, Powerheads, Zeo Rx, Calcium Rx, Carbon Rx etc, and a generator, all going to be top notch products to ensure most amazing reefology! Not necessarily most expensive but best performance/ratings.

But we are starting with a new display: 250g DD, and a new Sump: Standard 75 baffled up in some kinda sexy way!

Curious minds should SUBSCRIBE for a truly epic tank! :-D

I know! I can't wait to have the water flowing! But let me ask you, is it big enough? Are you satisfied with the size? Or Should I just go all the way and get the 300?
so far I am happy. It looks like it will be a challenge to stock lol. Of course I will be wanting something bigger in a few years, I guess it depends on how much space you have and your budget

Because of the floor joist, I have to put the tank on the smaller wall in my fish room, so that's why I am going with the 250g.

I expect a little challenge with stocking the tank but i plan to load up a pillar in the middle back 3rd early on with sps, that'll make it less of a task I think.

Small updates:

I paid the balance on the new tank, it will be here next Thursday!
I built the framing for the stand yesterday and got the legs cut. Stand will be 35" tall.
Once I put it all together, I will snap some pictures. It has to go in the house in sections because the door frame is only 30" wide. The tank itself is 27" tall so that's easy to bring in, but being that the stand is 36" deep and 35" tall, its going to be a frame with façade.

Tonight's progress!

ImageUploadedByTapatalk1425616913.803614.jpg

Base got the top cut to size!

Uprights have been started. A few left to place. Sanding tomorrow and painting this portion, the basic structure, Georgian Grey!

Georgian Grey is a slightly darker grey. The stand will probably be light grey or white.

Currently listening to Boyce Avenue acoustic sessions.
