Red turf, that would make sense as I have green turf. Best battle plan? I've tried api algaefix and lights put for 4 days but no dice so far.

Gonne need that phosphate reading, probably going to need a reactor or a liquid phosphate remover.

I'll test the phosphate tomorrow after I grab another kit. What removers do you recommend? Right now I'm just using phosguard and purigen. I don't have a sump, so probably can't fit a gfo reactor.

Phosphate looks like it's between 0 and 0.25. I know that's a pretty large range, but the api kit is all I have access to right now. I should be picking up some more testing stuff soon though.

I feed the tank kent microvert a few times a week, and target feed the stony guys brine shrimp once or twice a week since I don't have fish.

Testing for phosphate in your tank is useless... You have nuisance algae you have phosphate, sometimes you will get low phosphate readings but that’s because the algae is using it up, also test kits only test for only one type of phosphates.

Testing your makeup water or water used for water changes can be important because if there is phosphates coming in this way you will never get a handle on it.. You will need to treat you tap water.

Your going to have to find the source of your nutrients to rid yourself of this alagae. It could be overstocking, make up water, over feeding, not enough filtration ie undersized skimmer, not enough water changes etc

With the stock of
6 cerith snails
4 nasarius snails
2 anemone crabs
1 sally light foot crab
1 peppermint shrimp

Would it be worth it to add a tronchus snail? I plan adding a pair of platinum clowns when I get the algae taken care of. I don't feel that the tank is over stocked, what do you guys think?

I had that same stuff. Smothered two small colonies of acans (one was a 10 head rainbow colony). Multiple water changes did not help. Bought 100 small blue leg crabs and about 10 large white leg crabs along with a blue tuxedo urchin. Now it's all gone. And my tank is only a 29g!! Maybe overkill but my acans are thriving again (what's left of them) as well as my zoas. Good luck.
