Alright so this has been growing for a few months. At first I was thinking it was hair algae, but as it grew, it looked nothing like the hair algae I had in a previous tank. They seem to grow in very long strands. They are a greenish brown color and are attached to the rock, so I know it's not any type of bacteria.

I did an extensive search of this the other day. All I could find was Blue-green Algae or Hair Algae. What you have there is very similar to Blue-green Algae that is found in fresh water.

I appreciate you taking the time to help search. That's so strange to hear, and it's interesting because I've heard that it looks like freshwater algae from others as well.

I'm starting to wonder if there's maybe a university or the like that I could send a sample to.
