I'm setting up a 55 gallon reef tank. I have a approximately 10 gallon sump a over flow box. A skimmer that I'm not sure about. My lighting is t5 high output. Also and a 600gph return pump.

I forgot to mention and I'm sure others can chime in. You may want to ditch your bioballs from the beginning because unless you keep them clean with maintenance, they can become a place where nitrate builds up which is something you don't want in a reef tank. You can replace them with live rock and/or rock rubble as a better alternative because it provides more places for beneficial bacteria growth which helps keep nutrients lower in your system.

I might suggest putting a good amount in - more than a layer but maybe not quite as much as your bioballs......I'm very sump impaired - what section is your return? is it where the skimmer is or is it an external return pump? I thought maybe that pump pictured was a uv? I'm so confused lol

The return will be right where the sump is in the sump.

Welcome to the best. Most expensive and highly addictive hot in the world ryan. Check around at your lfs and the interwebs for a local reefing club in your area. If your lfs employees are worth anything they will know the club. But most regions have one. Now a days and it's the second best resource you have.

Here is a update on my tank. It's been up for almost 2 months now. It's doing awsome. My parameters are all good and everything is looking good I believe. May I get some opinions on my aquascape
