I have kept reef aquariums since early 2000 and SPS since they started to come into the US early 1990's. In the early days I started out with a 60 gal acrylic tank that became a 75 acrylic and then was replaced by my first and one of the first Euro braced tanks from Lee Mar a 75 that I still use today. Then I had a 180 gal Lee Mar which in 1997 was transformed into a 300 gal peninsula reef. This was eventually featured in Mike Palettas Ultimate Reef Aquariums that I am very proud of. The 300 was my favorite of all time but the increase in electricity costs killed it. Now I have an old frag 130 gal frag tank that is my main reef. It is plumbed through a common sump with the old 75 gal mentioned before.

Here are a few shots of the old 300 g and my new setup consisting of the old 130 frag tank plumbed with the 75 g.

The 130 sprung leak 2 years ago, which was a big setback but it is now again being populated by new SPS frags and things are going well besides the usual cyano and algae outbreaks initially.

My name is tapio at Reef Central too and also on San Diego Reefs sdreefs.com. This is my real first name btw.

*Welcome to Reef2Reef!* Your series of aquariums are impressive ,you really should post a tank thread here! Is Koralle magazine different than Coral magazine?

Hi kireek, didi not get a notification of your post. I think Koralle is just the German version. That was before there was an English version.

Interesting! I thought the layout looked identical,I was curious if the content was the same.

My understanding has been that it is a direct translation. But I have never compared them side by side.
