Hello everyone, I have had a few tanks in the past. My first saltwater was a 20 long before I knew anything and put a small Koran Angel inside of it. The poor fish didn't last very long. Over the years I had a 39 tall and then a 75, which the tank itself I still have today in the basement. Then a 120/125 cant remember which one, but it was much more square then rectangle. Set that up when moving into our house about five years ago. I also had a 180 gallon in a storage unit I used to keep freshwater in and I soon wanted to set that up shortly after. Well things didn't turn out so well. I remember I paid $50 for that tank many years ago and it leaked. I resealed it and all was good when using it for freshwater years prior. Well after pulling it out of storage and filling it up, a seem let loose in the middle of the weekend when we were gone just after filling it. Came home to about a third of the water drained out and a burnt up a Mag 18 pump that was brand new. Carpet was all bubbled up but at least all the water drained out in the basement as its an old house and theres a drain directly underneath that just led all the water out to the curb.
After that a 210 AGA was picked up and thats where all the fun started.
Im just pulling pictures I have on Facebook and I dont see any overall shots of the tank later on, this is an early one when I was still using metal halides before I had LEDs. This looks pretty bad haha.
The basement room underneath ended up looking like this. It even did its own water changes as long as I kep a bin full of pre-mixed saltwater which you cant see from here.
And it also ran over to the sistern room next door
And some pictures of the later days of it up and running
Now that I look at this photo that doctor tang looked a little skinny. I did end up loosing him after a few months. However the other tangs were just fine especially the Naso (big eater and always very plump). The sailfin was rescued from Craiglist in a 90 gallon tall hexagon where he was anarexic and looked to be about on his last leg.
And a basket starfish. I turned the lights on quick in the middle of the night to catch him in action.
It was taken down in the middle of 2012 due to financial issues and energy costs of everything. But my business has been going great that I started in 2012 and I am now looking to start up again. I am taking a tour at a local facility here just a few minutes from where I live where I am looking at getting a 380 gallon (72x48x24). I would have to purchase almost everything over again. I still have the RO system and the stock tanks and brute cans down in the basement but that is about it.
