Hi all. I am just about to set up my first proper reef tank. i currently have a small 60L one with 2 clownfish but it just has a small outside filter pump which is rubbish. I've never been able to get any of the levels right and red algae is sometimes a problem. Also any corals I put in always die within days. I'm genuinely surprised the clowfish are still alive - i have had them for 2 years

I have decided to start again from scratch and do it properly!! I plan on spending as long as it takes to set up well. I have just purchased a secondhand tank, 4 feet long and holding around 250 L.
So far I have cleaned the tank and it stands empty on my sideboard.
I would value any recommendations for good books which show good diagrams as I am a bit dyslexic - preferably an ebook, and a list of equipment I will need to purchase

Welcome to R2R!!! I'm also not familiar with any e-books to help. If you look around some build threads here and ask some question you will get your answers. Best of luck!

Your best bet isn't E books but rather forums. Just do your research on forums and get advice from experienced aquarists. Good luck!

*Welcome to Reef2Reef, Jellybean !* Four feet of aquarium sounds nice! I agree that you should be able to find all the information you need right here. Many people will included diagrams in their build threads. The first piece of equipment I would look into is a skimmer.Circulation pumps are a must, and lighting options are plentiful. If you are planning on adding a sump, you will a return pump. Here is a good area to start asking questions regarding equipment Equipment, Lighting, Hardware, Aquarium Filtration
