I have never done a build thread before so I wanted to start one on my new tank. I also like how it's a tank journal I can look back on.
This is cycling.

And how it is now.

I started with a standard 55 gallon petco $1/ gallon special. I had a AIO box made because a sump was not possible with the tanks location.

I am able to hide the heater and use a bag of carbon, bag of chemipure and filter floss in the filter. I have a mj1200 for the return. I plan on adding a tunze 9004/9006/9011 soon as we'll as a ATO. I have a RKL controller on its way.

Here's some pics of the bleached rbta splitting the other night. Now I have two that need brought back.

Watching a anemone split is kinda like watching a horror movie. I don't like gruesome though.

I haven't updated this in awhile. I will get some pics up later today. I had built a screen top and used 1/4" mesh netting. Somehow my chalk bass managed to jump through the holes and then cooked on top of the net. He was my favorite fish.

Here's a pic of my nicest acan. It's losing some tissue around the edges. I dipped in iodine to help fight off infection. Figured I would show a pic invade I lose it.

Love the Anemones especially the bubble tips. I have the worse luck with Anemones, I have lost two now, don't know what I am doing wrong

We lost power for 40 hrs during a recent storm. I had a generator on hand but it quit working a couple times. Temps went from 78 to 70 to 78 to 70 and back to 78. Each instance took about 8 hrs. The only casualty was my new golden torch. It had flesh coming off tonight. I did a iodine dip tonight so we'll see what happens.

Torch is a goner I think. I hate to throw it out but if there's infection it's probably for the best.

The more research I do I have found that the gold torches may not be as hardy as the others. Anyone else experience this?
