I have decided to upgrade tanks from my 20x20x20 cube to a custom 36x24x18 tank! I was happy with how my cube turned out but the one thing I didn't like was the huge overflow it had in it so I ran out of room rather quickly lol, My work ordered me my new tank, stand and other equipment today so I should be able to get this build started in a couple weeks! I'll list the equipment I'll be using with this build below and add some pics of what the setup will look like, Any suggestions on equipment that hasnt been ordered yet is appreciated!

Tank - Planet aquariums 36x24x18 with external overflow

Sump - The new Trigger systems sump(ordered)

Lighting-250 Watt Reefbrite halide hybrid with 2 xho led strips(already have)

Controller - Apex jr(ordered)

Powerheads-2x mp10 vortech wireless(already have 1)

Heater-eheim jager 200 Watt?

Return - Mag 7

Doser - still deciding on Doser or calcium reactor?

I was going to build a tank with those exact dimensions a few months back, but I made a cube and a shallow reef instead. As far as I'm concerned, that tank lends itself perfectly to the best of aquascapes. Get it running! :D

Sounds like you got some nice setups! You have a build thread? Id love to check them out, My plan was to go with a 30x30x20 because I love the cube look but my wife wants anthias so I figured a longer tank would be better for them lol

Still need to get the thread going; I'm waiting to fill the tank up as a frag tank, but before I do, I have to figure out if I can rework some of the house's plumbing to allow for space for even MORE tanks. :D

Haha Cory! And nope I said on my build thread on in2deep it would be around the beginning of February before I got it but it's been ordered already so it could be here sooner I hope! Still debating whether I wanna start fresh with a new cycle or just put all my Liverock from the cube straight into it, what ya think?

Well your rock from the cube wouldn't be enough, it would act more like seed rock for the tank to cycle super fast.
Either way you'll have to add more live rock before your done.
So add all your rock, add some more rock to finish your aqua scape and wait for the three day cycle to be done and then you'll be going again.

Oh ya I was planning on adding more rock for sure, just didn't know if I wanted to use my old rock to, I may just put my old rock in the sump when I start the tank up to help the tank cycle right away and remove it in a month or so after bacteria has colonized on the dry rock in the display, Iv got half my rockscape built so I'll have pics of it up soon!
