This reef is going to be running with an algae scrubber and activated carbon and a lot of flow about 15 lbs or less of dry rock with no sand bed no skimmer no bio pellets or anything else.

The tank is a used deep blue 30 gallon rimless non reef ready which I used an over flow and loc line from a small tank I had in the garage.

The stand is made of scrap wood from previous projects and all the pipping as well

I'm going to run this tank with no controller for now but planning on making and arduino controller just to measure ph,temp

For the ato I will be dripping kalk so I will be manually doing it

For lighting I have a reef radiance full spec led

And for flow using 2 wp10s and ecoplus 1054 for return.

For salt mix I collected NSW from Florida and will be doing my 10 gallon bi weekly nutri or Catalina NSW changes.

Here is the progress so far

What type of corals are you going to be keeping? Looking forward to seeing this progress. I have always liked the dimensions of this tank.

Vinegar bath complete now aqua scape thinking on going with less rock. If I end up doing a single red planet and grow it to a full colony I will just do the middle rock with the right side rock combine as one and put the red planet in the middle. What I really want to find is flat rock instead of this ones cause I want the rock to come up only about and inch from the bottom glass. You guys input would be appreciated. Also need input on what you guys think on doing the single colony of red planet or doing a few more sticks

If you want it to look like that picture I think you'll need to make on boomie as opposed to the three smaller ones.

What you think. Should I do the single colony or multiple sticks

Personally, I would do multiple. But it would probably be pretty cool to just have one big colony. But I also think that you could become somewhat bored with only one coral.

I vote for several sticks - have them all growing together and intertwined into one large colony - you get the effect of the picture - I'm sorry I can't help on the origin question :(
