So after searching high and low for an aquarium that would not look like a monstrosity in the house, I have decided to modify a fluval edge as it is one of the few overall good looking small tanks out there.
Needless to say it will need a lot of modifications to make is suitable for my future marine critters.
I will post updates of my progress as I go along. I am still new at this and learning as I go along. Please feel free to give me advice.
Here is what I have planned
Led Flood lights:
10w RGB
20w Cool white
LED moonlight
10 or 20 g Sump/refugium with
Weipro SA 2011 skimmer
UV filter
Cobalt MJ2000 return pump
Jebao rw4 wavemaker
First mod: Overflow box built into the back of the fluval edge.
I got some .220 clear acrylic from home depot. First time I have ever worked with this material so it was a bit tricky.
After looking at the column of the Edge I realised there were plastic ridges sticking which would make a perfect place to rest the overflow box onto instead of trying to attach the box to the column.
I made the box big enough so that I can still fit the wires of the LEDs next to and past it.
I still have to drill the holes but I have not worked out what sizes it should be yet.
I will do a Herbie overflow with a loc-line return, so there will be 3 holes.
Needless to say it will need a lot of modifications to make is suitable for my future marine critters.
