Well since I started today on this - why not start here also. Tank gets here tomorrow so I built up the stand tonight (today)lol - stoked for this build. Got a few other goodies on the way that will help put it all together.

Finished up the stand last night except for a few more tweaks needed. Really liked my stand on the 90g so disassembled made new cuts and put back together.

Dude - that's exactly what I'm saying.lol showed up for pickup at 10:30 - had to work at 11:30 - told them I'd be late at work - at noon and getting a call letting me know the delivery was still 35 minutes out - had to give up and go to work. Haven't even been able to see her yet - it's killing me

Deliveries always seem to be late - felt bad for my supplier cause he felt so bad. Not his fault - he's at the mercy of the driver. Getting closer - like an hour out.

Maybe it will come with some free stuff. Like that ever happens.

Haha right.
well she's here.....and actually missing stuff.lol tank looks great tho. Was supposed to come with bulkheads and overflow kit but nothing there :( contacted up and there was miscommunication?? And they don't include those anymore. But they did throw in a glass lid..?? :) like I will be using that rofl

Also a lot different than I expected. Different than the example tank I looked at. This one has a square overflow instead of rounded and a giant glass center brace. Not sure how I feel about the square overflow??

Will be getting some more details on what's going on up shortly.

Well the tank measures (was supposed to.lol) 48x24x16. I was just looking at it and thinking.... that looks taller than I thought it would be - and sure enough - my tank is 48x24x17 :) I am actually stoked on that though as after I decided 16 high I remorsed.lol and thought I should have went 18 as I run halides. Got the best of both worlds and split the difference at 17. Works well as I have a large 13" high rock structure for the reef side of the tank.

Tank 48x24x17 85g
the coolest part of the build I am looking forward to is the island tree. Have a 10# Marco e400 kit on the way. Have a 5g bucket of tonga in the garage I plan on using as a say bonsai tree looking structure. Have 25# Marco dry rock I am going to smash up a bit. Than take the smaller pieces and zip tie out circular shape donut islands which will be attached at different par levels around the outer edges around the tonga structure.

man so much more. Wanna do some cool stuff with this 1

Oh man - was putting a coat of stain on the new wood on stand and wouldn't you know it....1 project turned into an unexpected and worse project.
totally kicked over the stain can! It went everywhere. All over my foot in flip flops up my leg of my favorite swets And across the garage floor. What a lame clean up and I now have an extremely purple foot.lol ugh

Thanks Rev - hoping this will be one for the books. I try explaining my vision of how i want it but it is rarely visual for anyone listening so I am excited to just do it that way I wont have to explain an imaginary picture.lol

Ya not the 1st giant stain spot on my garage floor - might as well do the whole thing now.rofl

Hahaha. Lol. Nice job.
ROFL - thanks.lol

Decided to try it again. I think that will be my last coat. So there she is. Gonna hit it with a bunch of sealer coats next.
you can see the embedded magnets in the front for the skin. I am actually cutting into it to make a window to show the painted back of my 40b sump which is awesome.lol with the bare bottom tank and open bottom to sump I am hoping it will give the image I did on the glass of sump to glow for veiwing.

Looks like I will be adding a gyre 130 into this build. Won it at the swap today. Talk about sweet. It will be running with an rw-15 and maybe a wp-10 if needed.

Can't wait to get my mortar :) plan on testing my skills on this one.

Thanks! Was super stoked. Went to the bathroom and came out to a new prize draw. Didn't think it was me. They called again and I double checked n sure enough. Didn't know what they were drawing for - claimed and said - what did I win - gyre - sweet.

Well stand is all done - now to plumbing and getting the 40b sump finished. Used all the old pieces. Skin fit back on after a new finish (magnet attached ) and I used the old 2 side panels all on the far right. The tank will be set up semi peninsula style with the back side of the tank in my open mini fish room but still viewable for me. Tank will come off at an angle in a corner leaving a good amount of space behind. The extra side panel hanging off back of right side is an opening door to get behind the tank.
