I am about to start a new project and I am in need of new test kits. I have only used API in the past. As I understand these are definitely not the best kits on the market. So I just wanted to know what kits everyone is using. Thanks in advance.

Wow. Thanks for your input Windy.

I use Hannah checkers for alkalinity and phosphate. Salifert for calcium and magnesium. My reefkeeper does pH and salinity.

Thanks. Would I need a calcium test kit if I plan on keeping softies, zoas, and 2-3 lps?

Testing and knowing your parameters is never a bad thing. You could probably keep things rather stable with water changes but I would have a test kit for the major three (alk, cal, mag) and nitrates for sure.

Thanks so much everyone so far. Petmountain.com has some sweet prices on Red Sea Pro kits so I think I am going to order those for calcium, alkalinity, magnesium, and nitrates. I am going to pull the trigger on a Hanna for Phosphates. Is there a good liquid test kit for PH? I don't want to drop like $100 for everything i would need to get my RKL to do ph.

Salifert for CA,Alk, and Mg (quality, reasonable test kits IMO). Hanna Checker for PO4. For PH, I use a Pinpoint monitor (which will become superfluous once I set up my Apex).

I'm using RedSea Pro also but thinking of picking up Hanna phosphates checker. You all using the ultra low range one?
