So here is my little tank twice.I am planning on attaching the two tanks somehow.I am also going to have to get some compact lights as this is set up underneath a cupboard.

I finally got the tanks connected and crushed coral added. The mini tank is being fed with the small Tom brand pump it came with. The same goes for the 7watt lamp. The bottom 5 gallon is rocking a hydor.Hoping to add corals tonight.

Updates

I have added some liverock and corals to my Nano. Here's the palys and acan colonies. There are 22 heads on the palys and 8 mouths on the acan.At 22x5 and 8x5 that puts me at 150 already.Ouch. Also added this light fixture from a bathroom fan,I am using a Coralife 50/50 ten watt bulb.

Thank you!The smaller tank happens to rest perfectly in place. The sand pipe creates nice turbulence over the surface.I also wanted to have as much water volume as possible. This is all set-up on prime countertop real estate next to the sink.I do wish the upper level had less distortion though.Maybe I can use that in a way to highlight a feature.

My water parameters fluctuated in the past week ,low calcium and some nitrates .I did a 2 gallon water change and added some carbon to the hydor.
DSCF6278.jpg

I think I can squeeze a bag of purigen behind here,if needed.I also attached the upper light fixture with some bent screws. My hi-tech sticky Velcro failed me.
DSCF6292.jpg

Had to clean the algae off the smaller tank, fortunately the whole setup can be removed.

The nitty gritty

Here is a rundown of my parameters;
7/23/14. pH 8 Amm 0 nitrates 0 nitrite 0 calcium n/a KH n/a

8/4/14. pH 8. Amm 0 nitrates 10 nitrite 0 calcium 380 KH 10

8/8/14 pH 8 Amm 0 nitrates 20 nitrite 0 calcium 420 KH 10

So I did a water change and added purigen behind the hydor for fun.I used the BRS calcium calculator and decided to add 1/2 a teaspoon of their calcium chloride per day.I will be dosing mag with ions for reefs,by aquavitro.I will use 1 ml two times a week.

Adjustments and additions

I cut up the large paly frag and removed the 3 polyps attached to the post.I then added four new zoas,3 fire and ice and 1 unknown.
$203 -15=188. 188 +20 =208

More additions

I found 8 zoas at the bottom of our frag tank.I also splurged on 3 pounds of liverock from the local pet store. One of the pieces had a mushroom on it.This adds 45 dollars FMV for a grand total of 253 dollars.
