I've used an Aquamaxx HOB-1 on my JBJ 30 rimless for a long time now. It works great and it's quiet enough for me... I'm picky about it.

I agree !

I've tried a few skimmers and was very disappointed.

The cadlights PLS-50 did produced good WET skimate, no dry, but the worst was the zillions of micro-bubbles.

The new Tunze 9001 is,, well,.....just ok. Many People including me, had problem with the tiny plastic tabs that hold the magnet , breaking off.
I had to glue mine on.

I do like the CPR SR2 and fits well in the 2nd chamber. It needs some padding around it for vibration deadining to control noise, but works well.

I decided to spend more money and buy the Aquamaxx for my wife's 29g Biocube. It works so well, that I tried it on our 55g and it is wonder in many ways !
It won't fit under the hood, but we replaced it anyway for a Reeff Radiance light.

Forget about a skimmer. Tried both the sr2 and slim skim, neither worth the wasted space.

This is why I chose the Aquamaxx. I use it because I can get lazy with my water changes. I feed my one fish, hermits and pom pom every day. I've found it suits my set up well.

I disagree, as their very useful. The 14g BioCube has no need for a skimmer, too small.

I have the newer SR3,...... and works great in our 29g BioCube.

Looks like a great skimmer but I want to keep my middle chamber the way it is.
