I have a 6th month old factory bio cube. I have a clown as my only fish, some clean up crew, 12lbs live rock, and a few other things. My questions are about my leathers. One is white and the he other was redish. Now the redish one is covered by looks like green and brown algae. Should I be alarmed? How can I fix it?

Can you give us your test results? How old is the tank etc. Most algae's are caused by excess nutrients which can as simple as overfeeding.

I just did a 10% change because my nitrite was 0.25 and my nitrate was a 10. My new levels are ammonia =0, nitrite=0, nitrate =5.0 , ph= 8.2, and lastly my salt is 34. And thanks for the welcome. I'm wondering if it was going through a cycle. It had some diatom (brown algea) on the sand but it seems to have gone away. Anyway it seems like the leathers color changed way before my levels moved.

Keep doing water changes any time you have detectable nitrites...
Also, use a turkey baster or something to blow the stuff off your leathers... I would think you may need another power head in there, since leathers naturally shed but need a bit of flow to help with it...

I am keeping up on he water changes for now and I did just added a power head. Didn't realize the needed stronger current. That may be what's going on bc kne looks good and the other is the one is a low flow area which is the one I'm worried about.

I'm not sure about my mg levels I'll buy the test tomorrow. Didn't come in the kit so I didn't know to test for it.
