Hey guys.

My tank is done cycling and I tested my water for the first time. Everything is out of whack except my salinity. My calcium phosphate magnesium nitrate and alk is off the charts. Please help. What should I do I'm totally new to this. Thanks

I agree we need to know what your test results are. Are you dosing anything? If so that might be the issue.

These numbers aren't terrible awful, and not a problem to fix. Nitrates of 5ppm are fine unless you have stony corals. The calcium and magnesium can be brought up with dosing. Or, since the SG is low, you could just add more salt mix to your water change water to gradually bring up everything. The phosphates are high, but my guess is you have algae from the cycle. What is your water source?

The algae during a cycle is totally normal. What kind of rock do you have in the tank. It could be leaching phosphate. If so, it's still fixable. Water changes over time, a skimmer after the cycle is done, GFO media, all of these can help. I never checked for phosphates during a cycle so maybe someone else can chime in.

Lets start with do you use RODI water? Biggest mistake I made in the beginning days of reefing not using DODI water.
