I sold my 5ft 125g a couple months ago because I wanted to downsize a little. Thought a 70ish would be what I wanted but when I seen this 90g rr with matching stand and canopy, I knew I this was the one for me. It has a very nice stand with 2 working drawers (not just for show) and 4 doors. The canopy has two doors on top that swing back flush with itself and trim that covers the sides of the tank. It all comes apart in sections for easy removal. So I drove all the way the way to Murfreesboro tn to pick it up on Saturday. It came with a reefkeeper elite with 8 plug-ins, ph and temp module and probs, still need the internet module so if anyone has one they want to sell let me know thanks. Also while I was picking up the aquarium, I got a beautiful softball size satosa, a large copperband butterfly fish that eats prepared food like it's crack, and a deltec protein skimmer. So I'm all set to start aquascaping next weekend. I would have this weekend but I decided I wanted to put down new hardwood flooring in the library before I set up the aquarium, because once it was up there would be no moving it. And I just finished moving everything back in.

Looks like it should clean up well. Even though it would be hard to match the stain, the hood looks like it needs some kind of decorative piece across the front...but that's just personal preference.

Ok my sump is all cleaned up. Still have to please some baffles, going to try and get acrylic cut. I like how this has a separate chamber just for a skimmer that way I dont have to worry about the water level affecting the skimmer. But sadly the skimmer I bought for this tank won't fit under the stand. Now I have to find another one.

This sump will be real good for a algae scrubber and macro algae. But I'm just planning on one scrubber for this system. I don't plan on stocking it heavily with fish

Well I got things ready to glue. Even got my algae scrubber from my 125g in this sump. Still trying to decide if I want to run a filter sock or not. What do you guys think on filter socks?

I think socks are great if you keep them changed out. That was always my problem. I need to borrow that copper band to do some aiptasia removal

I would be afraid you wouldn't be able to catch it. He's one of my favorite fish, and its not often you find one that will eat prepared foods from the start. Usually you have to train them. Not saying its hard, just that I don't want to have too :-D

You just need some peppermint shrimp. I added them and I haven't seen an aiptasia in months.

I didn't have any large aiptasia because I was killing them with kalk or lemon juice pretty regularly but the mowed down the new ones quickly and I haven't seen any since.

I have run into a small problem. The marine land sump I was going to use, leaks around the bulkheads that were in the side. I could seal them with silicone but im just not 100% sold on this sump. I have already been worrying about the reef keeper being under the stand with all that water moisture.
And I don't have anything else to use for a sump. I do have a 20L that I could put some baffles in and make a sump but Im afraid it will be to small of a sump on a 90g reef ready aquarium.

I took them out and replaced them with new ones. It originally had water feeding into the sump from the sides but my stand is to narrow to do that.

Make sure you put the gasket on the flange side (wet side) and the nut on the dry side. Hand tighten only. Too tight makes it leak. Also some people say that if you try to use silicone to seal it, it will make it leak the first time you bump it.

So finally getting back on track with setting up my reef tank. I stopped by k&m glass and got some baffles cut for the 36in long 30g. I plan on running a filter sock and skimmer in the first chamber, then water will flow over into the next chamber that will hold LR rubble and an algae scrubber. And finally flowing into the last chamber which will hold my mag 12 pump that will power my return and skimmer.
Not sure yet if I will have enough flow to power my scrubber but will cross that bridge when I get to it

Its has been awhile since I worked on this tank but today I finally got around to plumbing the sump. Used lots of union couplings, on the off chance that I have to remove the pump etc. Also I plumbed in the protein skimmer with the return pump. Using a mag 12 pump for return and a deltec protein skimmer. I still need to install a light so I can start growing macro algae. May try to do that next week
