So, where to begin... I have had my first attack with ich in my DT. My fault for not QT all new arrivals. We live and we learn. Will not make that mistake again. I have broken down my 220, it's a sad day. It's also a new start to something great. (A new start to a new tank and frag system) I have moved all of my fish ( what's left of them) to a QT tank for treatment. All in all I've lost 5 fish so far to this terrible thing called ich. I've took all of my coral and transferred them into a 40 gallon breeder tank ( not the easiest thing to do, so crammed in there.) but it's done. I've built a new stand and have both tanks on it. Also I took all of the rest of my LR and have it in a tub with a powerhead and a heater to keep everything live and happy. I'm going to treat my fish for ich for a couple of mouths while I'm planning my new set up. I was planning on taking the tank down and starting all over again due to the fact that I was not really happy with the way everything was set up ( you know us reefers, never happy and always wanting to do something just a little different then before, lol) it is just happening a bit sooner than expected. So here are some photos of the new temporary set up. There will be more to come but I'm exhausted from doing this all day, lol

Happy reefing!

Oh man!
Ick does suck.
Good luck with the new setup.
I currently have ick on my system but it has been under control with a uv sterilizer.
Some people are against uvs, IMO they are one of your best investment.
I know people will bash me for saying this but with a powder blue and a hippo tang, UV is the only weapon I can use to help me control ick. Only regret i have is not having bought a bigger UV.

Thanks. Ya know I've had a uv for awhile but have never hooked it up. I know moving forward in the future I will be QT all fish and corals before they enter my systems. We do I all we can to Prevent things like this from happening but it's just something we as reefers have to deal with. As much as I've been reading about ich lately I swear those blue hippos are engrained with the parasite in there DNA, lol.

I used to quarantine... I no longer do... Lol
To each it's own. It's the best thing about this hobby.
I spent hundreds on reef safe medicines when I first got ick, than about $100 on my QT, now... It just sits in a corner taking space.
For the fish that I like, tangs, you either have a somewhat large QT tank or you are just getting them ready for a ick outbreak.
Obviously that is just my opinion.

Run a UV sterilizer that is big enough for your system. BRS sells a few that are really good.
Very expensive but at least they will do the job.

Cool, thanks for sharing your experience. I have them in QT and treating them with copper now. We will see how it works out, hopefully all will go well. So far so good.

Hope so man.
Good luck with everything.
Oh and BTW if you think hippos are prone to ich don't try a powder blue... Lol

I have a hob filter I just bought recently that has a uv sterilizer built in FL reefer. If u need to use. Eventually I'll use for a small frag tank. Glad move went well.

Well I had another loss lastnight, one of my blue/green chromis died, I've actually had this one for about two years now. It was paired up with another. Down to one now. Ich is terrible. One a good note all my other fish seam to be doing well and improving, showing no signs of the ich. I plan on leaving them in QT for at least another 2 months. Man I learned my lesson on this one.QT EVERYTHING!
