I've been thinking about my next build... (Oh, right! Like you weren't! LOL)...and I'd love to set up a rimless tank, but I also really love my wrasses. I'm guessing a wrasse in a rimless is like a ticking bomb. How do you guys with rimless tanks keep your jumpers in the tank? Advice and pics welcome!

I used square acrylic rods and built a frame that sits on top of the glass then attached the clear netting from BRS. I'll take a pic this afternoon. My original frame sat inside the glass and had little pegs that hung on the top so it was basically suspened. I didn't have any corner braces so it was too flimsy and eventually broke.

My new build is rimless and it basically limit's what I can keep.. Frames and screens will work but then they take away from the rimless look... Some look better than others but no matter what they take away from the nice clean look...

So basically I have to live with the fact that I cant keep firefish, wrasses and jawfish...

If I were to do it again I would not buy a rimless tank. Rimless also is more of a pain with water splashing out. Yea they look nice but they can be a pain too..

I used Bulk Reef Supplies' aquarium screen cover kit. They are cheap, but you will need to make some mods for a rimless. I assembled the screen, then removed the back section of aluminum frame, letting the clear netting run down, over the back edge of the aquarium. I then put five magnets along the top edge, and attached them to the netting with Lock Tite G2 glue, so that the netting snaps onto the glass, creating a tight back seal. Also, I used double sided velcro strips on the left and right aluminum frame sides, and glass tank edges, to create a tight seal.

Basically the same as the others stated just done a little differently. I used aluminum screen frame from Home Depot and BRS screen (also got the corners from Home Depot). I used some acrylic so the frame would "sit" inside the edges of the tank. The acrylic is glued in place with ecotech frag glue. Here's a picture of how I did it.

If I were to do it again (which I may) I would use 4 pieces of acrylic closer to the corners.

Do you find it takes away from the overall aesthetic of the tank?

Fish shouldn't be kept without some sort of covering. All fish have the potential to jump and it is our responsibility to cover our tanks. Go with a screen.

Mine came with two pieces of glass that sit on clips mounted to the glass right at the same level as the top of the glass. It is my favorite tank topper of all the different options I've seen, but I still prefer it completely open... I leave it because it's best for my fish but i look on in envy at all those naked tanks out there!

I use the BRS screen kit. I don't think it takes away from anything as long as what's in the tank is nicer then what's outside of it. I love the fact I don't have to worry about finding my Masuda hogfish and yellow Coris on my floor
