wondering how much time a day most of your guys and girls actually spend just watching and enjoying the beauty of your reef? the reason I ask I always see threads on how much time you spend cleaning skimmers testing water getting rid of pest treating ick all kinda grunt work ,but never much on how much time is spent just watching the reef and enjoying the beauty of it ,so interested in hearing ,and for me I'd say 20 to 30 min a day most times its more interesting then what's on TV now a days

At this point my tank is pretty low maintenance. Test once a week...alk 2-3 times.
1-2 hours most nights I get to enjoy the tank

I used to enjoy the tank a lot more when it was in my living room. I'd just glance at it then find myself staring. Since its in the kitchen I do a lot less enjoying, but I find myself in that room more.

I actually spend less than 20 minutes a day actually looking at it and enjoying it.....unfortunately most of my viewing time is spent looking for issues and making sure everything looks good. I think I need to relax more lol.

On average as far as watching and enjoying my tank, I'd say a solid hr a day, give or take.

During the week, some days I barely have time to feed the fish. But the tank is always my first stop when i get home, just to do a quick scan and check on everything. I feed later in the evening.
So 2-5 minutes when I get home and then maybe as little as another 10 minutes later. Or If I have more time, 30 minutes including a quick alk test or something simple.
Weekends are when I do most tasks.

This is when in normal cruising mode.
Not rebuild mode which i've been in for the last couple months but on the tail end of now.

Haha I'm in the same boat, I hardly ever just look at my tank, I mostly am working on it

Same here but for me that's at least half of what makes the hobby enjoyable for me. All the tinkering. :)

I get to enjoy at least one of my tanks for about 10 hours a day (minus a half an hour for lunch)

Mine is in the kitchen, so 45 minutes at lunch and 1 hour at dinner. This time increases when my tank has issues.

It depends on the day. My reef is in my "man cave" so whenever there's a hockey game on, I get to spend more time enjoying it. On a normal day, I probably spend a half hour to an hour with feeding, observing, etc.

My tanks are in the living room on the way to the kitchen. I can see them from my couch but I also have 2 antique chairs directly across from them so I get many hours of viewing.

This thread is a good reminder to me to sit down and enjoy it. Seems like the day slips by and while I have fed the tank and checked on equipment I have not sat down to enjoy and watch it.

For sure days will go by when it might only be 5 min plus time spent working on it, but most days I would say are 4hours+ just looking at it. Probably 50/50 from the couch across the room and from sitting on a salt bucket with my nose pressed up against the glass haha.
