I have been using the supliments that I got when I aquired my tank. I need to replenish now. I am setting up a 20gallon mix reef. And I have inverts in my other tank. What I have been using: Iodide, MicroVert, Strontium, and Essential Elements. All Kent brand. What do you all advise for the reef? Is this all good enough? What else should I get? I'm ordering online any reputable web sites?
Thanks!

I need a magnesium test kit. Researching red sea or sailfert. One better than the other?

I would go Salifert kits for Calcium, Alkalinity, and Magnuesium. You could always have a reputable LFS test for the magnuesium, given if they are using a decent kit.

Simple water changes can go a long way, keep parameters in check and some are able to skip additional dosing.

I thought some corals need actual food stuff. Uhg how can I tell which ones need it. I certainly don't want to put more than I should in my reef.

Some corals can be fed, sometimes it helps growth and color. But it all depends on which coral, alot of them catch food from the water column, so when you feed your fish they will grab some, then again some people will feed their corals a couple times per week.
