Randy, for the life of me I've been searching for the last 30min or so and can't find what I'm look for so I need an expert (@Randy Holmes-Farley)...

Tank size 390 (net) gallons

TestCurrent level
dKH0.496.9dKH
Calcium449 ppm
Salinitysg =1.026
Magnesium0.541080ppm
Temp80.1°

Current magnesium level is sitting at 1080ppm, I'd like to bring it up slowly to 1280ppm in 100ppm a day increments over the next few days or however long it might take...
Using BRS Magnesium Mix Solution (magnesium chloride and sulfate) it's calling for 6129ml how much would you recommend I dose per day?
Thanks!

Think I found the answer:

3145.1 ml
106.3 fl oz
629 tsp

That seems high no?

If you need a total of 6129ml, then it can't be 3145ml a day. 1000ml a day maybe, but not 3145, that doesn't make sense.

I agree, doesn't make sense at all but, that's what the BRS calculator is showing... what would you recommend?

It makes sense if he wants to go from 1080 ppm to 1280 ppm and only raise 100 ppm per day........that means it's going to take two days. A total dose of approximately 6100 mls divided by two days equals approximately 3050 mls. Make sense?

I'm not disagree with the math, just want to make sure I don't go over and stay as close to NSW as possible.

You need a whole bunch because you have a big tank....almost 400 gallons. What I'd do is add a gallon (3785 mls), and then retest and take it from there.

Makes sense, but he's talkin a weeks time frame, not 2 days.

Using simple math, he just needs to dose 875mls a day for 7 days to get what he's looking for.

Thank you both!!!!!!

I'm going to err on the side of caution and dose 700ml, until I hit my target.

1280ppm - 1080ppm = 200ppm ÷ 100ppm/day = 2 days

However, regardless....looks like OP is going to take it slow and easy....and in this hobby, there's nothing wrong with that.

As folks have noted, raising magnesium can take a huge amount of additive.

Almost never does one need to raise magnesium rapidly, and there is concern for impurities in the magnesium salts (like ammonia), so going slow is a good plan. A week in a fine plan. :)
