I've got a few colonies (30-40 polyps) growing on the glass in my 55. I'm moving that tank to a 75...and want to know thoughts/suggestions on how to remove these colonies from the glass and what to do with them. Anybody have any experience with this???

Take a razor blade and carefully cut some off, then peel away. But only to this a bit at a time or you'll nuke your whole tank!

Never experienced this before, but I imagine you would turn all the flow off (prevent them from flying away) and use a razor blade to scrape them off. Then glue them on a frag plug, piece of rock, etc. I've even used a kitchen knife to cut zoas off a frag plug and glue them on other things. It worked, but I wouldn't recommend that. Definitely a razor.

My plan is to do this last during the transfer to the 75...so there shouldn't be anything left in there to nuke! Thanks for the insight. I've never had much luck gluing zoas/palys to plugs...I think I may use too much glue though.

I have experienced this. Easy to deal with. Scrape them with sharp razor then glue to plug. If you cut them clean there won't be any toxin release. Are they nice zoas or palys... Or are they junk button polyps or other protopalys?...

I have removed a few before off glass only 2-3 they peeled off,but with this many if they are junk ones I might just let em go. Dont forget to wear gloves/eye mask .
