2.6g Fluval spec III Pico Reef Tank

Picked up a Fluval spec III over the weekend. I'm setting it up at my girls office. I would like to hear ideas as what to put in it. Also, in the filtration should I go with the rubble and carbon (stock), or should I pull that entire section out and pack it with chaeto algae (custom)?

Setup
2" sand bed Ocean Direct sand
5lb live rock from 20g reef 4 months cycled
Tank water/bacteria from 20g reef tank 4 month cycled
Red Sea coral pro
LED light
Upgraded 100gph pump
LCD Thermometer
Hydor 25watt heater
Filtration - ball of chaeto, bag of live rubble, bag of carbon, mechanical Fluval cutout 2 stage block

Inverts list
3 snails - 2 currently in tank
2 sexy shrimp - 2 currently in tank
1 Tiger pistol shrimp - Currently in tank
2 Bumble bee shrimp
Pods - confirmed established population

Fish list (types of fish acceptable in pico)

High fin banded goby - Yasha won
Trimma goby - Yasha won
Green banded goby - Yasha won
Red head goby - Yasha won
Neon goby - maybe in another tank set up, not this one
Clown goby - 2nd fish currently in tank
Panda goby - could have been this one if clown goby was not at LFS
Hectors/rainfords goby - another strong contender, but not in this tank
Yasha goby - 1st fish currently in tank
Two spot blenny - I wanted this one a lot!
Yellow tail damsel - maybe in another tank setup, not this one
Clown fish - I don't really care much for clown fish, unless it's a clown goby :p
Catalina Goby - 3rd fish Not in tank

Coral list - currently in tank (9-10-16)
Zoas - 1 colony Sunkist,
Palys - 1 colony pink and gold,
Clove Polyps - 2 polyps purple clavuliaria
Mushrooms - 4 green/yellow rhodactis, 1 green ricordea yumma, 1 purple discosoma
Euphyllia - Cristata (attacked by peppermint in 20g)
Walking Dendro - 1
Acanthastrea - 1 colony purple acan

The damsel and clowns can't go in it is to small. IDK about the blenny. I would go with a neon goby the don't have a wide body and are captive bred so it doest impact the wildlife like the other gobys. And they are very easy to care for. For inverts do not put star fish they eat worms in the live sand and starve when it eats it all. A good stock would be 2 nassarius snial, 3 torchus snail, 3 astrea snail. Pods will naturaly occur on the live rock and will breed there and feed the goby too:D

For the filter a small amount of chaeto won't do much. You need a lot to make an impact. I would keep the carbon and in the rubble area put a tiny bag of gfo.

I have a yellow clown goby in my 220. For such a small fish in such a big tank, he is full of personality. Lives in my sps stick colonies.

I really like the yasha. Love the idea of a candy cane pistol and yasha together.

She really wants a tube anemone. She's pretty dead set on it. I'm pretty dead set on yasha, pistol, sexy. Will they work with a tube nem? I know it will grow good size. I can move it into the 65 when it outgrows.

Tube anemone can kill fish so as long as it is set higher on the rock work away from the goby it will be fine. I know sexy shrimp likes anemones but IDK about tubes and sexys.

Got it running today. Getting some rock tomorrow from LFS.
Hey my friend, I used to have the same tank. I had the tank loaded with pods and plenty of chaeto in the back! Upgrade your return pump to a bigger size (more gph) I had 90 gph running through mine. I kept corals great in it.
You just gotta watch those parameters. Also be precise on water changes

this was mine, you can see the chaeto popping out the back of it

Love it! What pump did you upgrade to? I had planned on doing this. Was looking at an 80gph, but interested in what you used. Thanks.

Well I just used a cheap 90 gph pump I found at Harbour freight. It was like 12 dollars haha. Lasted me a very long long time. As a matter of fact, it's still going. But I don't have the tank anymore, my buddy has it. Just make sure the pump you get fits well is all.

Thanks. Fitment was in question.
