I have a jebao rw-4 in my 20g long tank and I'm planning on upgrading to a 75g I was wondering if ordering one more rw-4 would be good enough flow for the 75 or if I should go with the rw-8?

You should go with the larger pump, you can turn it down if need be but you can't make the smaller pump push harder.

That's what I was thinking. Just run the rw-4 I have now with the rw-8 as well. I appreciate it.

I would love to try the gyre but I'm trying to do this as a "budget build" and do everything as cheap and efficient as possible.

If we distinguish between cheap and inexpensive/efficient, then I'd switch from the Jerbao's (cheap) to a set of Tunze nanostreams (inexpensive/efficient).

Skip the controllable options altogether - they're more for you than the tank. (non-efficient)

And I'd be buying them used if possible (check the for sale forum here on R2R and post on the Wanted forum too)....although brand new they only run from about $40 up to $78.

I'd add two 6045's now and plan to add more as you go. Four would rock a 75 gallon. :)

Of course you can always supplement what you have with the Tunze's as well.

look into the wifi controller called aqualink to be used with jebao's. I have an older wp-40 jebao hooked into the aqualink which gives me reef, random, pulse, steady and let's you dial in from I believe 20% to 110% power. You could also hook your RW-4 up to the aqualink to get better productivity. For the time being.
