Seahorses are astoundingly popular in the aquarium trade but wild-caught specimens require a species-dedicated system & lots of care.

Have you ever kept Seahorse(s) long-term? If so, did they have babies and did you attempt to raise them in captivity?

I raise both H. kuda and erectus, who like to give birth every few weeks. I enjoy it, but it's a lot of work over several months per brood.

Do your homework!!!!! They are not for the faint of heart, especially the dwarf variety. I think a 29 may be a bit small for a few of the breeds. They can get quite large.

when I first started I read all I could find but logic with balanced water, temp a little bit lower and careful of tank mates I would go for it.Kudas are probably the bet to start with.

In general, the erectus are first put in a simple 5 gallon with sponge filter. Primarily eat newly hatched decapped brine. They go into a 20g growout tank once they get large enough. At about 8 weeks I transition to frozen mysis.

For kuda I use a diy kreisel setup for the first month, then similar to erectus.

I keep several of them in various tanks, and I've sold locally.
