A few new pics. Some better than others. Frags growing well under the Philips CoralCare. New montis are doing well - some beginning their growth. Also pics of the two new tangs.

Great shot of the Achilles ! How many try's to get it to pose like that

I got lucky on the one where he is coming at the camera with four other tangs in the shot.

The others of the Achilles are place holders until I finally get the tack sharp shot I really want.

Great looking fish Terrance. I also like that that you still have Spongodes and Setosa in there even though most of the other corals are a bit more current and higher end. Spongodes was one of the first corals to grab my attention way back when and it's still one of my favorites.

Man, those corals sure look nice. Can you give us some update on the lights. Any issues, any color morphing, etc. Also, I see the alk tester might come in cheaper than the current solution on the market but will your's require the Apex to use?

My favorite thing about MH vs leds is the shimmer, do the Phillips lights have any shimmer, I just feel because of the blending plate, that it would minimize any led shimmer. Any thoughts comments are appreciated

I like corals if I look at them and like them. Simple as that. Names or coral-of-the-week don't really matter to me but I am not an anti-kooky-name-snob either.

The high end Montis I just got weren't picked up because of their exclusivity or cost but rather because I love montiporas and these will just be outstanding when they grow out.

The CoralCare lights are doing fantastic. Couldn't be happier so far.

As far as our alk monitoring device, it will absolutely be dramatically less expensive than what is currently being marketed. I can't say whether or not it will be standalone at this point but it would be hard to get much standalone functionality in there for less than the $200 it costs for an Apex Jr. Anyways and most would want to use it to send notifications and adjust things like co2 control anyways. Either way, it's too early to know and even if I did, I wouldn't say here at this time ;)

The CoralCare lights do have a bit of shimmer. The shimmer looks very similar to the MH in my tank on the other side. Maybe a tad less. If you are looking for "kessil-shimmer" these are not for you.

This shot is awesome - all of the shots are great, but capturing all of those beautiful fish in one picture was either the result of some luck or a camera on a tripod for the better part of a few hours. :D

With your power outage and the remote "sump-lake" - did you see a steep drop in water temp, or did the sheer volume in your system seem to keep everything stable?

I feel kessil are too much shimmer, but that's good to know thanks!

Thanks! Actually when you set up in one area, wait, and then fire off lots of pics, you sometimes get a gem. It's a numbers game.

I had a generator going in the outage and it was still running my heaters so no real drop in temp. If I was not running the heaters, and just the return pump and WAVs, it would probably have dropped just a couple of degrees in that timeframe.

plus 1 on this. Hopefully this year at least. Also what do you consider "small" containers for the alk monitor. 16 oz /1 gallon etc
We are making zero promises on timeline right now. I will say that the rudimentary-looking prototype I have been running for months now is rock-solid and was super simple to set up and run - unbelievably so - no solutions to mix and measure - nothing to calibrate - nothing to recalibrate - it just works - and it has been consistently about .2 below my Hanna numbers when I do my double-check. The containers for the reagent and waste are 16oz each.
